Hawkes Bay eased past Manawatu in a pre-season NPC shakedown 26-15 after Manawatu lead at halftime 15-14.
Hawke's Bay stepped up a gear in the second half to score 12 un-answered points. How this early season match will be any reflection of what awaits these two light weight unions in the upcoming Air New Zealand Cup matches is an unknown - suffice to say the standard is not there yet for both sides to foot it with the big boys.
