The entire Kia Toa loose forward trio was among the squad of 27 players named yesterday for Manawatu's match against a Hawke's Bay XV at Palmerston North on Wedneday week. It was the first indication how the coaches are looking at the dawn of Manawatu's biggest season since it was relegated from division one in 1988. The Kia Toa pack has been transformed since No.8 Daniel Alofa arrived from King Country and Ma'ake Tu'ipulotu came from Feilding to unite with hard hitting openside flanker Tonga Folau. Tu'ipulotu, the brother of occasional Hurricanes' midfield back Tane, played 13 games for Manawatu in 1999-00, only for a serious knee injury to all but force him out of the game. The Manawatu Evergreens XV to play Hawke's Bay has yet to be named.
