Hurricanes unbeaten at home

The Waratahs will have to rewrite history if they hope to beat the Hurricanes in their Super 14 semi-final showdown at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Friday.

Not only did the Canes beat the Tahs 19-14 in Sydney last Saturday, to secure home ground advantage in the semi, but the Sydneysiders have never beaten the Wellington outfit on New Zealand soil.

In their 11 previous encounters - 10 Super 12 fixtures and last Saturday's Super 14 outing - the Hurricanes won seven times for a 63.6 percent success rate.

The teams have never met in the play-offs before and all four the Tahs' wins have been in Sydney.

The Hurricanes' biggest win was a 25-point (42-17) victory in New Plymouth in 2001.

The Waratahs have beat the Hurricanes by 27 points (52-25) in Sydney in 1996.

The Hurricanes have scored 289 points in their 11 outings against the Waratahs, with the Australian franchise having scored 267 in reply - a difference of 22, for a match average of 26-24 in favour of the Canes.

The try count stands at 35-all - an average of three tries per match.
